U.S.S. Cole
October 12, 2000 Port of Aden, Yemen
Group Responsible: The main suspect is Osama Bin Laden, the head of a network of terrorists.
Synopsis: A small group of suicide bombers used a skiff to pull alongside the destroyer and detonate a bomb. The attack killed 17 sailors and wounded an additional 39 sailors. There are eight people being held in connection with the attack. Many believe Saudi Arabian terrorist Osama Bin Laden is connected to the attack.
America's Response: At this point the attack is still undergoing investigation. Officials believe there are similarities between this attack and the 1998 bombings of U.S. Embassies in Africa. There have been claims of lapses in intelligence and security that have been denied by officials.
