American Historical Association
Incorporated by Congress in 1889 for the promotion of historical studies, it is the largest historical society in the United States. Simply great newsletter, and is the literary outlet for many historians.
National Council for History Education
This council ( a non-profit corporation), promotes history in the schools.
National Railway Historical Society
Formed in 1935, this society has more than 17,000 members.
Chicago Historical Society
Events, exhibits and links galore for this city on the shore.
Delaware Historical Society
Nicely-done web site, about the first state in the Union. This historical society maintains a Research Library and the Delaware History Museum in Wilmington, as well as three historic sites: Old Town Hall, Willingtown Square and the Read House and Gardens.
Kennebunkport Historical Society
This historic Maine seacoast town has walking tours, a history center, and more. During the past decade, the area was also well-known for being the summer home of George Bush.
